Sod Installation in Orlando, FLLaid tight. Watered right.
Old turf removed, the ground graded, sod laid with tight seams and rolled. Then we set the sprinklers so the new lawn gets the water it needs.
Sod Installation · Orlando
Sod Installation, planned around the water.
New sod looks finished the day it goes down, but the first few weeks decide whether it lasts. Roots have to knit into the soil, and that takes steady water. This is why we treat the sprinklers as part of the job.
We remove dead turf, grade the ground so water runs where you want it, and lay each piece against the last in a staggered pattern. A roller then presses the sod flat against the soil.

Grass and groundwork
- 01
St. Augustine
The usual Florida lawn grass, including 'Floratam'. It generally grows well in sun, and some other St. Augustine types cope with more shade.
- 02
Zoysia
A finer, denser lawn that usually tolerates some shade. It grows slowly, so it takes longer to fill in.
- 03
Bahia
A tough grass for sunny, sandy ground, with a coarser, more open look than the others.
- 04
Old turf out, ground graded
Dead grass and weeds are cleared, then the soil is leveled so water drains instead of pooling.
- 05
Staggered seams, rolled flat
Pieces go down like brickwork with ends offset and edges pressed tight, then a roller removes air pockets.
- 06
Re-sod after a tree comes out
Where a large tree was removed, we re-sod the patch and check the sprinklers still reach it.
The process
How a sod job runs
- 01
Clear the ground
We remove dead turf and weeds down to bare soil, and talk through the grass for your light.
- 02
Grade and prep
The soil is leveled and shaped so water moves off the lawn and away from the house.
- 03
Lay and roll
Sod goes down in staggered rows with tight seams, then gets rolled for full contact with the soil.
- 04
Set the water
Sprinklers are checked and scheduled for new sod: watered daily at first, then tapered as roots take hold.
Local know-how
Sod in Orlando heat and sand
Sand drains fast, so new sod can dry out between waterings, especially in summer. Frequent, short cycles keep the roots damp while they knit in, usually for the first few weeks, and then we taper.
Sun and shade decide the grass. An open front yard and a lawn under live oaks are different jobs, so we look at the light before we choose anything.
“We contacted college park sprinlkers after we had a huge camfor tree removed so that he could install 2 magnolia trees, re-sod grass and fix sprinkler system . Marcus and the crew got everything done correct and to the point, with good pricing.”

When is a good time to lay sod in Central Florida?
Warm-season grasses usually root fastest in warm weather, so spring through early fall is common. In summer heat, new sod needs frequent watering. Call to talk timing for your yard.
How long does new sod need frequent watering?
Typically daily at first, then less often as the roots take hold over the following weeks. It varies with the season, soil and grass, so we set the schedule for your yard.
Which grass suits my yard?
Light decides much of it. St. Augustine likes sun, Zoysia is denser and usually tolerates more shade, and Bahia is tough in sunny, sandy ground. We walk the yard and talk it through.
Can you re-sod after a tree removal?
Yes. Where a large tree has come out, we grade the spot, lay new sod, and check that the sprinklers still reach it.
