Yards in Dr. Phillips

What Dr. Phillips yards need.

The median home here was built in 1997. Where a system is original to a 1990s house, it has decades of wear: nozzles clog, valves stick, timers drift. A yearly inspection finds that before a brown patch does.

Streets laid out by one developer tend to share a look, and many communities here have a homeowner association with views on landscaping. Where a lot backs onto a golf course, such as around Bay Hill Golf Club, we aim spray at grass, not fairway.

  • No more than ¾ inch of water per zone, and no more than an hour per zone, per watering day.
  • Automatic systems need a working rain shut-off device (Florida Statute 373.62).
  • New sod and plants: Orange County allows watering on any day for the first 30 days, then every other day for the next 30.

Daylight saving time runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. A water-shortage order can change it, so check sjrwmd.com/wateringrestrictions before you reset a timer.

Should an older sprinkler system be inspected?

We advise one inspection a year. We run every zone and check heads, valves, timer and coverage, then give you a plain list of what is worn and what is fine. Call (407) 969-8741.

Can you work to my HOA’s landscape standards?

Share the community’s guidelines or your approval letter before we start. We plan beds, sod and plants around them, so nothing goes in that has to come back out.
